Requirements for a ESWDA Certified K-9 Trainer/Evaluator*

 

1. Must have three (3) years as either an active or associate member in good standing in the ESWDA.

2. Must have at least five(5) years verifiable experience in handling and/or training dogs.

3. Must have trained at least three (3) dogs to ESWDA standards.

4. Successfully pass the ESWDA written and oral tests for trainer’s accreditation.

5. Conforms to all local, State and Federal requirements.

 

Requirements for an ESWDA Master K-9 Trainer/Evaluator

 

1. Must have at least three (3) years as either an active or associate member in good standing in the ESWDA.

2. Must have at least ten (10) years verifiable experience in handling and/or training dogs.

3. Must have trained at least ten (10) dogs to ESWDA standards.

4. Been an ESWDA trainer/evaluator for a period of at least five (5) years.

5. Conforms to all local, State and federal requirements.

 

 *Trainers who wish to evaluate and certify dogs used for law enforcement purposes (police patrol, law enforcement based narcotics and explosives detection, law enforcement tracking/trailing) must have at the minimum five (5) years verifiable full time law enforcement K-9 experience.
